The Redeemed Christian Church of God released a video of a lady called Esther after the General overseer led a protest. Esther was 17 years old when she got arrested by the police.
It was a saddening story as Esther narrated her ordeal. Esther’s mum was a provision seller who sent her to get supplies. On her way out just after she closed the gate. She got into the hungry wolves hands called SARS officials and she was packed into the van alongside others.
She found herself at Surulere Police Station where her parents came and demanded her release. She claimed that her parents being “churchy”decided not to pay her bail because she didn’t commit any offense.
She was barely seventeen years of age, as at that time that implied that she was a minor but she was transferred to Panti CID.
She was allowed to a room where she described as a staff room, they pulled off her clothes, electrocuted her a bit and tied her hands and legs to the back. She described it as serious torture.
They made sure she confessed that she committed an offense she didn’t commit.
She spent three years in prison before she was finally released due to the help of the church.
So you know why the shout is loud on the streets, it might be you next.
