Meet Some Lazy Nigerian Youths

SARS officers are notoriously known for arresting and extorting people that carry gadgets; an iPhone or MacBook. Most of them do not know the industry of online content creation and remote working. They have remained ignorant about the opportunities available on phone or a laptop. This stereotype is one of the many reasons for the #EndSARS protest.
The sterotype took a big hit yesterday when Stripe acquired Nigeria’s Paystack for $200M+to expand into the African continent. Paystack currently has around 60,000 customers from small to large corporations. They attract a variety of customers. This is the biggest startup acquisition to come out of Lagos, Nigeria and Stripe’s biggest acquisition till date.
“A lot of companies have been, let’s say, heavily influenced by Stripe,” Collison said, raising his eyebrows a little. “But with Paystack, clearly they’ve put a lot of original thinking into how to do things better. There are some details better. There are some details of Stripe that we consider mistakes, but we can see that Paystack gets it, it’s clear from the site and from the product sensibilities, and that has nothing to do with them being in Africa or African.”
Even the CEO of a multi-billionaire company recognizes the ingenuity, talent and intelligence of young Nigerians but the government through every effort possible is trying to diminish us. On the12th of October, 2020 President Muhammadu Buhari launched the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme Tools. Of these tools, some include tricycles and motorcycles. They refuse to help the citizens with tools that equip them effectively. They lack the innovative and forward-thinking to consider what the youths really need and provide it.
Anyways just like the founders of Paystack Shola Akinlade and Ezra Olubi we’ll continue to pave our own way and build our own table while simultaneously trying to reform the Nigerian Government. Nigerian youths are not lazy.
