Fighting as one from all fronts.
The fight must be covered from all angles and that is exactly what the Nigerian youth are doing...
For a country like Nigeria where various conflicting factions and barriers is the norm, seeing the youth set aside their differences and band together to fight one enemy is nothing short of a miracle. Nothing unites people like shared pain and the Nigerian youths have had more than their fair share of pain in the hands of SARS and the Nigerian government as a whole which has lead to a national protest that is gradually becoming a movement in other countries of the world.
With a movement as massive as this, the sync among all the protesters is a wonder to behold especially when considering the fact that there are no specific leaders yet organization and structure for the protest have been put in place. Everyone is a volunteer fighting for a common cause #SARSMUSTEND, with each person contributing their own quota as little or as large as it may be.
In the years past, protests were only done in front of government buildings but now things have changed because of the advancement of technology, the protests have also been going on online which has brought a lot of attention to the current happenings in Nigeria. The first hashtag #EndSARS trended as number one in the world for 2 days straight because the Nigerian youths A.K.A “twitter warriors” stormed the whole twitter with the hashtag. Major media houses like CNN, Aljazeera have also covered the protests.
On the other hand, offline protests have taken multi-dimensions.
Many youths have decided to donate money, ambulances, food, drinks, first aid, legal representation, counselling, all of which are important to ensure the momentum of this protest is sustained.
Many more have taken to the streets under sunshine or rain to ensure that the voice and pain of the Nigerian youths are heard loud and clear.
Even the Christians are also organizing prayer walks across the country because the fight also has to be fought spiritually.
One thing is clear in the midst of this, Nigerian youths have realized the power in unity and have decided to speak as one against police brutality and reformation and they will not stop until their demands are met.
