#EndSARS Protest: Shooting in Osogbo
Imagine asking your governor to address you in your native language and you get shot at, ah.
The Nigerian Government clearly do not know the meaning of democracy. Every Nigerian has the right to protest peacefully but unfortunately, protesters are being killed for exacting this right.
The protests in Osogbo have been escalating for a few days now but today was the height of it.
Yesterday in Olaiya, Osogbo, the convoy of the Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola shot at peaceful protesters. This is how it started to escalate. The Governor came to the protest to address the peaceful protest and the youth told him to address them in Yoruba and he got angry and arrogantly zoomed off while his security shot at protesters:
Imagine asking your governor to address you in your native language and you get shot at, ah.
Two people are dead and several are injured.
This just goes to show the incompetence of the governor; A governor, who is elected into the office as a representative has failed to calm protesters down and instead caused the death of innocent citizens. It is sad to witness that these representatives of the people do not have empathy for the citizen unless it is time for elections and photo ops.
After this shooting incited by the governor, thugs and hoodlums caused the fires that have broken out all over the city. The MDS Post Office, Osun JustRite Mall and Orisunbare Market were all lit on fire. The Osun Mall was looted by opportunists. Allegedly these attacks were incited by the government in order to blame the protestors. Protestors are being arrested already.
