Day 6. Fever From the Virus #EndSARS
Day 6. FEVER FROM THE VIRUS. #EndSARS
In the face of overwhelming adversity and tremendous oppression by the Nigerian Police force, the Nigerian Youths
have shown even greater bravery and discipline. Today being the 6th day of protests majorly in the southern region, young people have stepped out with placards and in numbers asking peacefully for an end to police brutality. The only response they have received is more of police brutality. They have remained peaceful and unshaken. United against the fronts of Religion, Tribe and ethnicity, they have been at the forefront of the world's largest media platforms. Locally and internationally, the movement has become a virus and and it seems everyone is finally catching fever. Well, almost everyone, except the Nigerian in, who like Pharaoh, have refused to peacefully give the nigerian youth what they are asking for.
Early this morning, David Adeleke, a Nigerian Artiste with the studio name Davido, had a live meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu. Davido clearly read out with emphasis, the five demands of the Nigerian Youths protesting. The IGP in his reply stated that for all the other four times SARS had been dissolved or disbanded, they had only reformed them. He added that this time, they were actually dissolved. It appears that even with the list of people who had lost their lives, the Nigerian Police under the current IGP, have been presenting 'black' lies to the Nigerian people.
Alongside the meeting, protests kick off in Ibadan, Rivers State and Akwa Ibom state respectively Today. At Pleasure Park in Port Harcourt of Rivers State despite an eleventh hour waring by the State's governor, Governor Nyesom Wike to stop youths from prostesting and directives for the police to prosecute those who are found protesting, Port Harcourt youths have come out alongside a medical team who are in need of supplies.
In Ibadan, the protest in kicked off at Iwo Road off the bridge in Ibadan, Oyo state. Protesters have been out from as early as 9am. With pictures all over the internet, more young people have joined the protest and everyone seems to be playing a part. Some people come to the protest grounds with food and drinks. And other volunteer as emergency response team to those that would need Medical attention. Some others are picking up after the protesters to ensure no littwr in places of protests. This is everyone's fight and no one is getting left behind. On twitter, the hashtag to end the police unit behind the atrocities is still trending with over 6 million tweets.
It has been reported alongside picture evidence that the Nigerian Army are walking with protesters in Ibadan and guarding them. This is relieving as it is proof, that the Nigerian Defence is a government for the people.
As the movement continues, the federal government has refused to budge in its actions. One is starting to doubt if they truly have control of the Police force.
Other states continued with their protests today. Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Enugu to mention a few. Reports are that the police in Barnawa, Kaduna state are arresting protesters who are videoing them. The youths are on the streets nonetheless and they keep chanting "We no hold gun! We no dey fight" they kneel as they chant along.
The trauma of being abused by those who should protect us is enough. Nigerian Youths want this to stop.
