"CROCODILE SMILE" how the Nigerian army have been belittled and made to lose priority.
#EndSARS and the Army.
According to section 217 of the 1999 Nigerian constitution the the duties of the Nigerian army are as follows;
(a) defending Nigeria from external aggression.
(b) maintaining its territorial integrity and securing its
borders from violation on land, sea or air
(c) suppressing insurrection and acting in aid of civil
authorities to restore order when called upon to do so
by the President, but subject to such conditions as may
be prescribed by an act of the National Assembly and
(d) performing such other function as may be prescribed by an Act of the National Assembly.
The Army is held at high esteem and can only come into civil activities when called upon by the president to handle civil disturbances that are out of control civil authorities like the police.
So far the government have tried several means to cut the protest short except listening to the demands of the protesters. Thugs have been mobilised in readily available government buses to transport them to protest locations to cause havoc. many have been killed, arrested, kidnapped, bruised and wounded, and so many more have been done to peaceful protesters by the police and the president yet to address any of these issues.
The Nigerian army made this post on Facebook on Saturday 17th Oct 2020 in act to come at peaceful protesters.
Social media has helped in creating awareness about the brutality of police officers and the rottenness in the system and has brought about global awareness on the issue and this is a means to stop the voice of Nigerians from being heard by the government.
The involvement of the army has shown that the president himself hasn't been listening to the cries of Nigerians and infact wants to silence these voices.
This is belittling the army and bringing them to matters that can be handled without any stress from the government. Nigeria still faces security crisis with boko haram and one of the cry of the army is insufficient officers to fight this terrorist and making this (Crocodile smile) a top concern at the moment shows what the government places above others.
The cry to #EndSARS is still on by Nigerians and no threat in disguise can stop the voices of angered Nigerians who are ready to bring change. So far non has died as a reason of the protest except those KILLED BY THE POLICE and Nigerians have been surprised and exhilarated by the unity of Nigerians towards this common goal.
The army doesn't have any duty in any cyber exercise as this is a misplaced priority, few times have boko haram members been spotted with the aid of social media, videos have been shared of their executions, the terrorist executing Nigerians and others but no news have been made of the army using social media to identify and capture or kill these terrorists.
Clearly the peaceful protesters are who they are after but the world is watching. Any action of brute used by the government against peaceful protesters would be showed to the whole world to see the incompetence of the government and cause the United Nations to be involved in the movement to End SARS and reform the Nigerian police force by Nigerians as the issue appears to be above the government intelligence.
We are fighting for a better Nigeria where the army would know exactly what they ought to do, where wrong doers would be held accountable and safety is assured to all.
