Today, 20-10-2020, happens to be one of the darkest in the history of Nigeria. A day we learnt just how little the government of Nigeria values the lives of its people. The day the government decided to toss their sheep clothing in the sand and reveal to, not just Nigeria but, the whole world just how dark and evil they truly are.
Today witnessed a sudden rise in anarchy in different states of the nation, from Benin to Aba, from Aba to Mushin, from Mushin to Jos, from Jos to Abuja. Almost all parts of the nation seem to be facing one battle or the other as scores of thugs and hoodlums successfully hijack the peaceful protests of the ENDSARS protesters.
What may seem to be prison breaks and arsons to the foreigner is just a well calculated and thought-out approach by the government to discredit the peaceful protesters. This is seen as lots of buildings and cars have been damaged, lives have been lost and these series of events have led to the imposition of curfews in states like Lagos, Benin and Jos.
Many eye witnesses reported with live recordings of men being instructed and transported by DSS operatives, so we know this is definitely being sponsored by the government and poorly hidden to boot.
While this may be shocking to most, the shock of a lifetime was yet to come as scores of protesters have been recorded to have been trapped in the Lekki toll gate area of Lagos state. Before anyone try to justify the army for what I am about to report, it's important to add that the Lagos state curfew was extended to start at 9pm to enable citizens get to their houses fast and safely.
The protesters were trapped at the toll gate without given an opportunity to safely depart to their homes, they were also shot at by the men of the Nigerian army under the false guise of the curfew.
Events leading to this bloodbath witnessed men removing the CCTV cameras at the Lekki toll gate earlier in the day without any form of explanation whatsoever. Could it be that this was a ploy to tactically cover up this heinous act? Of course, it is.
DJ Switch, who is a part of the protesters, quickly connected with the rest of the world by going live on Instagram to show just how gruesome the attacks are and how little our lives matter in the eyes of the Buhari administration.
The Instagram video lasted long enough for CNN correspondents to put a call across to DJ Switch, but it was to no avail due to the dire nature of the rather volatile situation.
Whilst live, the protesters recorded about 7 persons who sustained injuries and it is yet to be confirmed who they are and whether or not they all survived. However, there were three men we could see, one of which  was being given first aid after being shot in the leg and another whose body was able to, to an extent, repel a bullet.
We do not know the fate of our brothers and sisters at the Lekki toll gate as at now, 9:10pm, but their bravery is one that reflects the heart of steel as they were seen to be discussing about the Barcelona match. If we are going to die, the least we can do is go down discussing what we love - DJSWITCH.
The battle for a new Nigeria is still on, and today being a historic day in the Nigerian history shows how head strong and adamant the youths are, and it goes without saying that we are not backing down.
For a better Nigeria.
